This full-day course combines regulatory review, troubleshooting, maintenance best practices, and technical instruction presented by experienced Hartzell Engine Tech instructors with decades of field experience in general aviation maintenance, overhaul, repair station operations, and technical support.

Instructors
Timothy Gauntt
Timothy Gauntt earned his A&P certificate in 1976 and IA certification in 1979. He holds a BS in Professional Aeronautics and an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
With more than 50 years of general aviation experience, Tim has worked across maintenance, inspection, overhaul, technical training, and product support roles involving airframes, engines, and associated aircraft systems. His background includes experience with FBOs, flight schools, A&P technical instruction, engine overhaul operations, and product support leadership.

Tim previously served as Director of Product Support for Hartzell Engine Tech.
Allen Buffkin
Allen Buffkin has served as Product Support Director for Hartzell Engine Tech since 2017 and has been active in both general and military aviation since 2000.
His background includes technical support, aviation maintenance, and operational experience supporting both domestic and international aviation programs. Allen also served as a Mobile Training Team advisor supporting International Narcotics and Law Enforcement aviation operations for the U.S. State Department and worked as a flight engineer on S-61T and UH-1ST aircraft.
Allen holds both A&P and IA certifications.
